Budget Reduction Task Force College Meeting – October

Dear College of Arts & Letters Staff and Faculty,

I want to provide an update on the progress of the Budget Reduction Task Force (BRTF) as part of our 2020 Contingency Plan. As mentioned during the College Meeting held on August 21, recommendations from the three subcommittees were due on October 8. Those have been submitted and are now available on the BRTF landing page on the College website under the “Subcommittee Recommendations” section. You may access each report and any accompanying appendices by using your MSU NET ID login.

On October 29 from 4-5 p.m., we will hold a College Meeting. During this time, each Subcommittee Chair will present their recommendations and faculty and staff will be able to offer feedback, suggestions, and comments that will inform our decision-making at the College level. As with past College Meetings, the College Advisory Council (CAC) will be hosting.

In the meantime, I encourage you to provide feedback to me and/or the Subcommittee Chairs, and to submit questions, comments, and suggestions by clicking on the feedback form at the bottom of the BRTF landing page between now and 5 p.m. Eastern on October 23. We will curate those questions and address them at the October 29 College Meeting.

I would like to thank all the Subcommittee Members and Chairs for their participation, collaboration, and leadership in undertaking this difficult work. I am grateful for the time everyone has taken to bring their creativity and insight to this process. I look forward to your feedback as we continue to put the core values of our College into practice as we navigate together the challenges we face.

Please be well, stay safe, and take care.

Sincerely,
