Join the Friends of Theatre at Michigan State University for the ninth annual Friends of Theatre Gala supporting programs and activities for MSU Theatre students.
The Gala is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Wharton Center for the Performing Arts on the Cobb Great Hall stage. Tickets are available in advance for $75 per person ($20 tax-deductible) at theatre.msu.edu.
Gala guests will enjoy appetizers, wine, and desserts while mingling with friends, faculty, and students of MSU’s Department of Theatre. The featured event of the evening is the production of Farm! A Musical Experience. This new musical was written by MSU students and faculty and, this spring, has been touring special needs classrooms around the state.
Money raised from the Gala will benefit the Friends of Theatre Endowment, which provides funding for special projects benefiting MSU Theatre students, including the ĭmáGen Musical Theatre Immersion Program with Wharton Center, Summer Circle Kids’ Camp, and the 4th Wall Theatre Company collaboration. Other projects funded through the endowment include student scholarships, artist/educator fellowships, guest artist and scholar residencies, and special production activities.
Gifts to the endowment can be made in a single payment, as a recurring sustaining gift, or as a pledge in installments. Those interested in contributing to the endowment should contact Joan Mattson at joanmattson@gmail.com.
