College Mourns the Loss of Chinese Professor

The College of Arts & Letters is saddened by the loss of Chunhong Teng, Assistant Professor of Chinese, who passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was 64 years old.

Teng worked at Michigan State University in the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asain, and African Languages for 18 years and taught many Chinese classes. She also was the faculty leader of the MSU Summer Chinese Language Study Abroad Program at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. This program provides eight weeks of intensive language instruction and guided excursions. Participants are provided additional opportunities to experience various aspects of Chinese culture, such as Taiji, Peking opera, Chinese cooking, traditional medicine, acupuncture, martial arts, and calligraphy. 

There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, November 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman East Lansing Chapel at 1730 E. Grand River Ave. in East Lansing, Michigan.
