Graduate students in College of Arts and Letters programs have a variety of opportunities to explore research and creative activity individually and with faculty mentors.
The College of Arts and Letters is expanding support for broadened career and research pathways for doctoral students specifically, as well as broadening training and workshop opportunities.
Professional and Research Experiences
Graduate students gain multiple kinds of work experience through a suite of different graduate assistantships, fellowships, and internships during their time at MSU including:
- Editing, peer reviewing, and publishing for academic journals.
- Working on projects in research labs, centers, and institutes on campus.
- Exploring digital project management opportunities.
- Working with libraries, archives, and museums.
- Presenting creative work as part of exhibitions, readings, and screenings.
This kind of work opportunity is increasingly important for graduate students with academic careers as well as those who explore careers outside of academia.
