From Lansing to Spain: MSU Student Expands His World Through Education Abroad

Long before Anthony Wilson arrived in Valencia, Spain, studying abroad was already part of the Michigan State University student’s story. Growing up in Lansing, Wilson heard stories about his mother’s experience as an MSU student majoring in Spanish and studying abroad in Ecuador. Years later, during his senior year at Eastern High School, Wilson traveled outside the United States for the first time on a two-week class trip to Costa Rica.

When Michigan State University Religious Studies major Lucy Van Hof arrived in Monteverde, Costa Rica, in Spring 2026, she expected to learn about community engagement and sustainability. Education Abroad in Greece Inspires Students’ ‘Lasting Impressions’ Exhibition

Inspired by the history, culture, and ceramic traditions of Greece, Michigan State University students who participated in the Ceramic Arts in Greece Education Abroad in Spring 2026 transformed their experiences into works of art that are now on display in the “Lasting Impressions” exhibition at the MSU Union Art Gallery. The exhibition is on view through Saturday, Oct. 3, with a public reception scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Study Abroad Experience Made Possible Through Donor Support

For Michigan State University student and Citizen Scholar Audrey Pocopio, experiencing the history and culture of London, England, brought her coursework to life during a summer study abroad program. A double major in English and Humanities-Prelaw, Pocopio spent five weeks studying in England in Summer 2025, immersing herself in the history, literature, and culture she had previously encountered only in textbooks.

Scholarship Opens the Door to Global Internship for MSU Student

For Jasmine Chow, a junior at Michigan State University double majoring in Psychology and Experience Architecture, a scholarship didn’t just help cover expenses — it made an international, career-shaping experience possible. A recipient of the Jacob C. Tiedt Scholarship for Internships Abroad, Chow used the award to help fund a Summer 2025 internship in Osaka, Japan, where she worked for a small company specializing in skin care and natural wellness products made from yuzu.
