Position: Visual Resources Assistant

I assist the Visual Resources Curator in selecting, digitizing, and cataloging images of art for a database of artwork. I also help curate collections of digital images for faculty and aid the Visual Resources Curator in teaching instructors how to navigate and utilize the database.

My Art History classes at MSU covered a wide variety of topics and exposed me to numerous points of view and modes of expression. Without this background, I would not be able to provide more than topical information about the artworks in the Visual Resources database. Having an Art History degree allows me to provide thorough, detailed cataloging for artwork.

Get creative, explore different fields, and ask questions!

My advice to current students is to think outside the box. When I was studying at MSU, I initially thought my only career options were teaching or working in a museum. There are a multitude of jobs where an Art History degree can benefit you. Get creative, explore different fields, and ask questions!
