Trixie Long Smith, Professor in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures at Michigan State University, is part of the second cohort of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Faculty Fellows Program-Africa and is partnering with a faculty member at the University of Pretoria in South Africa during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Student-Produced Publication Wins International Award for Excellence

East Lansing's only full-color arts and culture magazine, The Current, which is developed for and by Michigan State University students, has received a 2024 MarCom Gold Award for its June/July 2024 edition. This international recognition celebrates excellence in marketing and communication and recognizes the outstanding work of The Current staff.

Incoming First-Year Students Receive Prestigious Alumni Distinguished Scholarships

Two incoming first-year College of Arts & Letters students have been awarded Michigan State University’s highly competitive Alumni Distinguished Scholarships, which cover full tuition, room and board, and a stipend for up to eight semesters of undergraduate study. Three Graduating Seniors Receive XA Outstanding Senior Award

Three graduating seniors received the 2024 Experience Architecture (XA) Outstanding Senior Award, which is presented each year by the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures at Michigan State University to recognize XA seniors who have demonstrated excellence in the Experience Architecture Program and stand out amongst their peers. The 2024 recipients of the XA Outstanding Senior Award are Vicky Chen, Emily Paterson, and Grace Turner.

Professional and Public Writing Outstanding Senior Award Goes to Three Graduating Seniors

Three graduating seniors received the 2024 Professional and Public Writing (P2W) Outstanding Senior Award, which is presented each year by the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures at Michigan State University to recognize graduating students who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, success in experiential learning, and engagement with the community. This year’s recipients are Yasmeen Amjad, Emma Losey, and Emily Paterson.
