“The Department of Art, Art History, and Design is very proud of the recognition our students majoring in Graphic Design have received at this year’s Mid-Michigan ADDYs Competition of the American Advertising Federation,” said Chris Corneal, Chair of the Department of Art, Art History, and Design. “This event highlights the top creative work in the profession and validates our confidence in the quality and potential for industry success of our very talented students.”

Senior Ryann Davis received a top Judge’s Choice Award for her Macbeth poster, which earned a Gold ADDY in the Poster-Single category for Out-of-Home & Ambient Media.

Only three Judge’s Choice awards were presented, one from each of the three judges, who included Andy Azula, Senior Vice President and Group Creative Director at The Martin Agency, based out of Richmond, Virginia; Silver Cuellar III, Executive Creative Director at Van Winkle + Associates in Atlanta, Georgia; and Melanie Wiesenthal, Partner at Deerfield, a branding and design studio in Brooklyn, New York. Each of the judges selected from among all the Gold ADDY award-winning entries one to be recognized with a Judge’s Choice Award for its outstanding work.

The ADDY Awards are the advertising and marketing industry’s largest and most recognized competition with a mission of recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising. The awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types.

All Gold and Silver ADDY award winners are encouraged to submit their work to the District 6 competition, which represents AAF clubs in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. District award winners will be notified by Friday, April 21. All District Gold ADDY winners then are entered into the National ADDY competition.
