2019 Haunted Aud Tells a Tale of Vengeance

MSU’s Department of Theatre invites you to join them for a vengeful evening at the 11th annual Haunted Auditorium scheduled for October 25, 26, and 31. Filled with supernatural scares and chilling tales, the Haunted Aud is perfect for a Halloween spook.

This year’s production, Vengeance, will use all three floors of the auditorium to tell the tale of a wronged character exacting revenge on her husband with the help of a deity.

A new event being added this year, called Monster Mash, is for younger community members, and will allow parents to take their children to the auditorium for trick-or-treating. The Monster Mash event is on Saturday, October 26, from 4:30-6 p.m. and is $5 per child.

The Haunted Aud production is led by Theatre students Margo Skornia, senior; Kevin Mazur, junior; and Chris Badia, junior, who spent months organizing and coordinating the performance.

“Learning how to coordinate and trying to tie together all of the loose ends has been the biggest learning aspect,” Skornia said. “Also, since there’s so many people involved in this production like faculty, students, and community members, trying to figure out how to get this big swath of people to work together and move forward has been a big learning experience.”

As a part of coordinating the entire production, the three producers are responsible for pulling together student-submitted design ideas to create a cohesive and thrilling performance.

“Seeing the ideas that the designers have brought to us has been a lot of fun because it has allowed us to take what we thought was a good product and make it so much better,” Skornia said. “Seeing this collaborative effort and all of these minds working together has been great.”

The Haunted Aud is a fundraising event to help further the experiences of Theatre students. Money raised will support the grants awarded by stART, a student organization affiliated with the Department of Theatre where, based on how many hours students work for selected stART activities, they receive grants that can be used to help them with their careers.
