Kaylin Casper has been awarded the nationally competitive Udall Undergraduate Scholarship, becoming Michigan State University’s 14th Udall Scholar. Fluent in both Russian and English, Zhanna Yakubova, who was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, decided to learn Spanish too and began taking classes in high school when she moved to the United States six years ago. Now a senior at Michigan State University, Yakubova is double majoring in Linguistics and Acting. She has always had a love for learning languages and, during her first year at MSU, she added a Spanish minor to her undergraduate education.
Nic Cottone, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Philosophy at Michigan State University, was awarded the 2024 Varg-Sullivan Endowed Graduate Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Letters in recognition of her outstanding research on feminist philosophy and social theory that primarily focuses on theories of social reproductive labor and sexual violence.

Katy Anderson, who is graduating with a double major in English for Secondary Education and Psychology, will deliver this year's student commencement speech at the Spring 2024 College of Arts & Letters graduation ceremony on Sunday, August 28. Anderson also is a graduate of the Honors College and is graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA, which has earned her the prestigious Board of Trustees Award.
Growing up in Honduras, Oscar Rodriguez Quiroz didn’t have much access to the theatre and it wasn’t until he was 17 that his love for acting began when he saw a performance at the Escuela Nacional de Arte Dramático (National School of Drama) in Honduras. He is now a seasoned actor who has performed in many plays and an MFA in Acting Candidate at Michigan State University who is preparing to graduate this spring.
The Department of Religious Studies at Michigan State University recently held its 2024 Undergraduate Symposium and Awards Presentation, which shined a spotlight on undergraduate research and the outstanding achievements of its students.
